    Hi,

If you're banned from driving in Ireland do they physically take your licence.

Also, will an Irish ban also make it illegal for you to drive in the US.

    Thanks.

For the first question. What does it matter unless you plan to break the law and drive regardless?

Second question. No you can drive in the US or any country as long as you have a license. Since you hypothetically do not have an Irish license you would need to sit a test in the US and get one before you can drive.

The real question is can you use that US license to drive over here? ;)

So if I have an endorsed licence I cannot drive in the states?

If I can drive what are the insurance implications if I need a rental car (which I could do for up to a month)?

Technically you will not have a license, you should not even have one in your posession as it should be held at the motor tax office. See Here.

If you try and rent a car in the US and still have a license and said license is not in fact stamped then you will get away with it. Until of course something happens, accident, speeding or whatever it was that you (if it was you) did in the first place to get banned. If it is found out in the US that you are driving without a license then God help you because unlike over here, their Police actually do in fact.. you know.. police.

It is rather difficult to hire a car with any kind of endorsement or ban.
