Passat Starting Problem

My Father-in-law's 2001 B5.5 2.0l petrol Passat developed a problem last year where it was difficult to start from cold.

I did a service and thought I'd solved the problem, however, it coincided with the weather changing from warm to cold.

Now that it's getting warm again, the car is hard to start from cold (confusing, I know:D). Any ideas? I'm leaning towards a temperature sensor as once it gets going it runs without problems.

Save all the guessing and get it scanned,
Probably is the temp sensor though.

Thanks. I don't have VAGCOM and don't fancy paying a dealer €100 to scan it.

I might try the sensor as it's not too expensive so worth a shot.
