Thinking of investing in a new driver. Play off 3 so want something decent with good spec/shaft.

Has anyone heard what the new Cobra S2 is meant to be like or the Taylormade R9 Supertri and Superdeep?

Is your swing speed high? If so The ping Rapture V2 with a prolaunch red x flex shaft could be a beast for you. I bought one and tried it for 2 range sessions and 1 round but I dont have the swing speed to load it properly! But on the few that I "swung out of my boots" and cought in the middle it was 30yards further than my current rapture V2 with the stock tfc shaft in stiff.

I tried the S2 at a demo day recently and didnt like it. The stock shaft was very "board like" to me and I just didnt get on with it at all. My current driver has a stiff shaft and my swing speed is 97mps or thereabouts.
I also tried the older S9-1 which I liked a bit better. To be honest neither were better than my old HS-9 driver which has served me well for 3 years now, the best Cobra driver of recent times IMO.

I have a similar swing speed to yourself and I've recently bought the Taylormade R9 with stiff shaft - I absolutely love it - so much more consistent off the tee and even the ones where I'm a bit off don't slice nearly as much as they used to. The moveable weights and flight change technology are a bit gimmicky I reckon but its still a fine, fine club.

Well im a high handicapper and just got the S2 from foregolf fitted with a stiff shaft suited to my swing. Its in the closed postion. Played seafield yesterday and hitting great drives. On the 3rd hole i nearly drove the green. Went about 290 300 yards and most of that was carry as there was little run as it had rained quite badly yesterday morning. Was averaging 270 to 280 yards when i hit it right. Still getting use to it and been a high handicapper im not consistent.

I bought the R9 460 recently (without the moveable weights) also with stiff shaft and can't believe the extra distance, forgiveness and confidence it gives!! Being off 18 not every drive is perfect, but even the bad ones are good!!:D

just got a cobra s9.1 for 100 off halpenny golf (its gone back up to 139 now because they sold 60 of them last week) which im pretty happy with. i know its last seasons but not much different to the s2 and they also have a good few drivers in there which are on offer just because the latest version is out. I'd definately give them a shout becuase if you're interested in the r9 they have it on offer for less then 200 (not to be confused with r9 supertri!)
