Contact Google about paid apps

Does anyone have details of a contact number or email address of someone or some department we can start to pester about getting paid apps into Ireland? I have been monitoring this thread and this one but the fact that Google haven't commented on them makes me feel it's pointless to add my own voice to them. So, I want to email or speak to someone who might actually reply and give me information.
I know there are ways around it but that's not good enough at this stage, there are loads of Android devices around at this stage and we need access to the full market.
    Any ideas?

I'm holding fire until FroYo is officially released in the hope that an announcement on paid apps comes at the same time. With the new iphone due i'm hoping they announce it to steal a little of Apples thunder. Methinks my hopes may be in vain.:(

I'm pretty new to Android. Can anyone explain briefly what the limitation is, and what I'm missing out on? There seems to be a wealth of non-pay apps out there. Are there enough paid-apps to merit chasing this up, or is it just because we're being denied our right to buy apps?

I think we're EXTREMELY close to getting it.

When i go into "my downloads" now (standard way - no market enabler running), my paid apps (that i got with market enabler originally) are also showing up, and i can update them too.

I would even go so far as to hazard a guess that it'll be a go by the end of the month :pac:

There are many apps that are only free on a limited or trial basis and once they expire, we can't pay for the full version. There are other apps that have ads in them which I personally don't like. If it's an app I use a bit, I'm happy to pay for it to remove the ads, as most apps cost less than a pint!

That would be brilliant but it's still just a guess. If it's that close to launching here, why don't they just announce it and be done with it. Even if they said it'll go live in Q4, it would be better than knowing nothing!

Nope, this is on 2.1 on a Milestone.

It's only a very recent occurance - possibly within the last week which was the last time i checked "my downloads". I'm feeling positive anyway!

Right, I noticed it a while back but I thought it was related to updating my Nexus One to 2.2.

I had a very strange moment on my Hero last week. I was in Spain, but using live.vodafone.com for my data (just turning it on a couple of times a day to check my email and use trip advisor).

One of times I turned on the data connection, I was prompted to update some of my paid apps. Maybe vodafone were testing it? I didn't update then, and the updates weren't there a few hours later when I checked again.

Off topic, but can you confirm that you weren't charged for data using the Live APN? I know the Vodafone boys elsewhere said we wouldn't be but I'd like someone to confirm it in real life!

Yeah, I linked to that in the OP but it's a pointless thread as it's been open for ages and there has been no official reply to it.

I can confirm that I WAS charged for data while I was in Spain. I was using the Live APN as advised by Vodafone. I was paranoid about it, so I just turned it on as needed. I stripped my homescreens to the bare minimum and disabled contact and calendar syncing (and I'm glad I did). The biggest hit was 3mb for about €15. From looking at the My Vodafone screen on their website, it looks like the total to be added to my bill will be about €30.

I'll add this info to the "Data bundle question whilst abroad" thread in the Vodafone forum... people need to be warned that VF are giving out incorrect info.

Ah **** that's so annoying. loads of people go on about that 99c a day charge working anywhere in the world, blatantly false advertising if its not the case. let us know how you get on with them .

I'm off on holidays in few weeks so I'm hoping its some misunderstanding,

I've posted to this thread in the Vodafone forum, so lets see what they say.

I was in Italy a few months ago, and neither myself or my wife were charged for data. Probably used about 100/150mb between us.

The issue here is that if you've paid for the Live bundle, you can roam for free.
If you've paid for the ISP bundle, then you can't roam for free.

Vodafone said in their forum (see link above) that ISP bundle users can switch to the Live APN while abroad and not be charged. I was. I'll be interested to read their response.

Even on my G1 last year, paid apps would sporadically show up in "my downloads" even when I wasn't running MarketEnabler. I don't think this is new unfortunately. It would re-appear and disappear on a week by week basis.

I wish they would sort this out quickly.

Actually I've noticed it aswell, updates to paid apps (bought via switching out sim for a uk one) appearing in downloads while my irish sim is in. Only started to happen a week or two ago. When I update these apps you can see a "authorizing purchases" message before downloading. Using Nexus One 2.1 not rooted or anything, I just assumed it was the beginnings of paid apps appearing. Hopefully soon.
