Good question. I watched the first epsiode and was pretty impressed, the second less so, and so on. After around half way through season one I stopped watching as I realised it was just another stupid American sitcom with some good singing.

Sue has her moments but apart from her it's just not that funny. It's not in the same league as Freaks and Geeks for example.

Some of the covers are brilliant (Don't Stop Believin' and Give You Hell being my favourites) whereas the Rolling Stones cover of You Can't Always Get What You Want was poor compared to the original. You really shouldn't cover Rolling Stones songs.

Decent show and I'd probably have enjoyed it more in my early teens but it just isn't good enough to devote time to for me personally.

I agree with the above posters.

Firstly - the storyline is absolutely circular. While the plot keeps moving along towards Regionals with addendums like Rachel's mother and the (superb) egging scene, the same core threats (for example Sue Sylvester) are consistently posed to the club, subsequently thwarted, then lo and behold - they arise again in the next episode! As was highlighted, the show now seems more "weekly theme" oriented.

If I was a fan of the show, what would really concern me (if I desired a long term future for Glee) is the fact that the ultimate end goal of this season is a triumph at Regionals. It just doesn't look as if any issues of sufficient gravity/ hilarity exist to sustain the show beyond the initial novelty factor. How long can it evade the axe? I find it hard to see it being a long term thing. Moreover, it is important to remember that high school is finite. (Could this pave the way for "University Glee"? I bloody hope not!)

Secondly - the music. Oh yeah, it's well produced, and for the most part, it is well performed. However, I sometimes think it's slightly pointless - apart from the notable mashups, the majority of the club's musical endeavour just replicates the original songs. Essentially, what you are listening to is just a professionally executed carbon copy of something that's already famous.

I thought the first half of the season was good. The madonna episode really killed it for me, it sort of said "we don't care about story, ass kissing celebrities so we can use their music is so much better". Ever since then the stories have been treading old ground, the same message in nearly every episode "be yourself!". Yeah, we get it.

The story doesn't move, the season doesn't seem to be progressing, it's just getting a bit silly. The music, which was obviously an important feature, has taken over. They seem to be writing episodes to suit the musical numbers rather than picking the music to suit the story and it makes it impossible to engage with characters who seem to change and backtrack from episode to episode.

Even the music has gone from being good "Glee" covers to just covers. The Lady Gaga "Bad romance" one was just a karaoke knock off, they didn't try to put their own stamp on it.

I'm disappointed with how it's going, not like Chuck though! Mediocre first season had me thinking it was going to be cancelled. I didn't bother watching season 2 because I thought it would be the same (Chuck in the buymore, averts world disaster while keeping his secret from his friends and at the end his life is unchanged, back in the buymore). Stumbled across it on morning TV (thank you unemployment) and was hooked on season 2. An entire mythology built up around the intersect and an insidious organization, plus that finale!

Oh don't think anyone said they hate Glee, I think everyone said they watch or did watch Glee. I think people are entitled to be concerned with the direction the show is heading in. I really, really liked the first half of the season, it just doesn't feel like it's going anywhere, in which case a 20 minute "musical" slot would make more sense than trying to fill the show with stories that are getting more and more difficult to become involved in.

There is a thread titled "Anyone else starting to dislike Glee?". Surely you and your multiple question marks could have posted there instead of starting another thread bashing the show. Why should anyone have to tell you "whats so great about it"? If you're not all that interested in it why would you bother posting here?

I did read the thread thanks, and I also read the charter of the forum where the CMod stated
Basically in plain english, if you don't like Glee don't post in the GLEE forum.

    Its getting really bloody old.

I like Glee the music is great & I can watch it with my 10yr old so many shows on TV are way too serious and totally unsuitable to watch with your kids.
The idea of TV is to escape & entertain glee gives kids a positive message (which it does in every episode) & make people feel good which it does!

You are putting words in people's mouths. It's a discussion, about Glee, and about people who watch Glee becoming somewhat disillusioned with it.

If you don't like it, don't click on the thread, no one is forcing you to read it. If you can't make an argument as to why you think Glee is getting better, don't resort to whining and fanboyism. Everyone who has posted says they watch the show, no one has simply come on and said "Man, Glee sucks, you guys need lives" or some other garbage.

Oh, I'm sorry, is this a "I love Glee" forum?

I really hate it when I see rules like this in forum charters, especially forums as trivial as tv shows/music/films etc. What good is having a forum where all that is allowed is constant praise of a show! Constructive criticism, such as that in this thread, should be encouraged by fans of the show. Debate about the show should be encouraged! By all means say how much you love the show and talk about the show all you want but when threads like this come along, open up your minds and see other people's point of view. Don't knock others because they have a different point of view.

Well, yeah it kind of is. There is already a thread where people have expressed their opinion that the show is going downhill. Thats totally fine. In fact some of us, me included, asked to have one anti-glee thread where people could vent their spleen about how shít they think it is. The mod said no. If you read the charter thread you'll see it.

Whining and fanboyism...lol. Its a tv show and its a bit of fun. The only whining I can see is from people who expect it to be something more than it is.

Well not to state the obvious then but why did you start a thread "whats so great about glee?"

Glee as I have said in other threads is fluff. I really like it for what it is: most TV programs need you to suspend reality: Desperate Housewives, Coronation Street, 24: if it was realistic it would be boring and noone would watch it! Its a comedy. In my opinion people need to relax: watch it if you want and chat about it here if you like it. If not why waste your time, trying to affect other peoples enjoyment of it?

People are quick to bash Glee: just in my opinion (and the charters) the Glee forum is NOT the place to do it.
