Amy Ryan is joining the cast of In Treatment for the HBO drama's third season.
The 40-year-old actress has scheduled some couch time as the new therapist of Dr. Paul Weston (Gabriel Byrne), according to Deadline, which first reported the news. Ryan steps in for Dianne Wiest, who left the series after playing Weston's therapist and mentor for two seasons.
The five-times-a-week series focuses on Weston's work as a therapist and his various patients, in addition to his own weekly sessions.

Debra Winger is also on board for Season 3 which starts later this year on HBO

Has anyone watched, or is in the process of watching, season 3?

I'm very disappointed in it so far (13 episodes). There's only one character I have any interest in and even Paul's story has gone really dull. I'm not sure if it's the format running out of steam, bad casting/writing or the lack of source material from the Israeli version but I think this show is pretty much finished for me.

The award-winning HBO series In Treatment will not return for a fourth series, it has been confirmed.
Despite critical acclaim and a handful of awards for the show's stars, the psychotherapist drama failed to pick up big ratings for the broadcaster.
An HBO spokesperson said: "It's true that we have no plans to continue with In Treatment as previously formatted.
"However, we are in continued conversations with the executive producers to find another way to continue telling these rich stories."
In Treatment picked up a WGA gong in 2009, Dianne West won the 'Supporting Actress' Emmy in 2008, while the show's leading man Gabriel Byrne earned two 'Best Actor' Emmy nods.
The finale of the third season only pulled in 279,000 viewers, a significant fall from the start of the run when it pulled in 446,000.
