Question about replacement of NCT certificate.

    Hi,

Back in August I got my first car. The car had be NCT'd just the month before I bought it. However I didn't get the NCT certificate with the car, I have the disc on the car obviously but I don't have the certificate.

Is it a simple procedure to get a replacement?

I found the form I need to fill out on this page:
    http://www.citizensinformation.ie/categories/travel-and-recreation/vehicle-standards/national_car_test

But should the fact that it was NCT'd by someone else (the dealer who's now out of business, long story attached to that) make it difficult for me to get the replacement cert.?

    Cheers.

I can't see why it would, as long as you are now the registered owner.

Ah that's grand so, I'm the registered owner anyway. I only remembered that I hadn't got it at the weekend and remember someone saying that it's not enough just to have the disk but that you need the cert that came with it also.

I'm going to send away the form on Tuesday if I can get to a Garda station over the weekend. Cheers.

A replacement NCT cert will be issued to the current registered owner to my knowledge.

    From here: http://www.ncts.ie/faq.aspx#18

    18. What will I do if I lose my NCT Certificate or NCT Report?

You can replace any of the above for a fee of €12.70. You must go to your local Garda station and obtain an RF134 form, which must be stamped and signed by the Gardaí. Send this completed form back, along with either your windscreen disc or NCT Certificate, whichever part you may still hold, and a cheque or postal order payable to Applus Car Testing Service Ltd., to: The Test Certificate Administrator, NCTS, Lakedrive 3026, Citywest Business Campus, Naas Road, Dublin 24.

For a replacement NCT Report, simply write in with car registration number, make and model and owner details along with the €12.70 fee to the Test Certificate Administrator at the above address. These fees may be subject to change.
