    Hi guys and gals,

Im currently out on work experience for 6 months. I have about 3 months done.

My standard rate of pay is 300e per week. I work Mon-Fri 9am-5pm.

For the first while I was getting deducted 30euros for tax credits.

I get paid weekly. For the past 6 weeks or so Iv been getting deducted a total of 66.00 euros from 300, leaving me with 234.00 net pay.

The deductions are PAYE 60 euros, and a furthur 6 euros for income levy.

I was told that the company sorts the tax etc and i dont need to do anything.

Thing is im living away from home and pay rent of 70 euros per week etc. Im left with very little after all this tax.

Will I be able to claim any of it back? And if so, how?

    Thanks again..

Ring PAYE helpline (1890222425) and have your PPS number ready.

Ask them where your tax credits are allocated. If they say you are not registered as employed you need to get onto the company you are with. It sounds to me as tho you are on emergency tax and not registered.

It is easy register and it will only take a phonecall from the company to do this.

As above you are on emergency tax. You should be paying no PAYE at that level of pay.

At the end of the year you can claim back your income levy too if your total annual income is under €15,028

thanks for great replies guys.. :)

another thing, my contract stated i was entitled to 1.66 days off a month. so i took a day and a half off there last week and they docked me a full day and a halfs off wages.

feels like im being messed around abit tbh.

Your holiday entitlements would be 8% of hours worked so he's probably about right with the holidays. Speak to them in Payroll quite likely a misunderstanding.
