    Hi lads,
Got something exciting happening soon and have to sign a copyright/release form beforehand, I've just been emailed it and some of it is beyond me what we are actually signing up to. I've put a quote below. Can anyone tell me in plain english what they are actually saying here? Thanks in advance
    • You assign to the Producer the copyright, performance rights and all other rights in your
contributions for use in all media and formats, now known or which may be developed in
future, for the full period of copyright and any extensions and renewals throughout the
world and you agree that the Producer may assign such rights to third parties.

Sounds like you sign away all rights to whatever is being produced.. You will be paid for your contribution and would have no say in who can use/abuse the track(s)... (but I'm not a lawyer)
    Is that important to you?

Financially speaking... who gains from the usage of the copyright/performance etc. going forward?
Are you paid for contribution, or will you continue to receive a share of revenue?

If this is important to you.. (irrespective of this contract), I would spend the time and money to get a solicitor who specialises in music contracts to advise on the contract.

The above! Get it checked by a solicitor!

I aint no expert, but it appears you are giving the 'Producer' all rights to the material. I would also suggest bring it to a solicitor and have them look it over..

Basically as said above your handing over whatever tracks they are looking at for them to use in anything they choose.

so if you not into the fur trade or the selling of tiger skins and they want to use your song for that or some other radicle thing you cant say no as youve handed all rights over. bit extreme example but you get the idea :)

Get a lawyer if ya want but at the end of the day unless they change that lines its prob not gonna be happening for you :)
