    EDGE is 2G.

Best coverage is probably provided by Vodafone and O2, but that's not to say that they'll actually work, or be any better than Meteor, for you. Try them and see is the only way to know.

Dig out their coverage maps and have a look.

Do you know anyone with a vodafone/o2 phone? See if they can get 3G on their phone.

But you could be next door to 4 masts and have bad "coverage" if there are a lot of users.

This is why they add extra masts at race courses, stadiums etc as the locals would have no service at all on event days.

Really you need to try all 4 brands at week day 7pm and also weekends. Students going home makes performance worse / better depending on loaction. Some people use the Internet mostly at work during the week, which tends not to be mobile.

So weekdays 6pm to 9pm or 11pm is often worse (but not Friday if an area where people go for end of week drink).

Saturday/Sunday can be much worse or very quiet depending on location.

So get all four (Vodafone, Meteor, O2 and 3) on Wednesday or Thursday afternoon and take back three of them on Monday afternoon
