    Hey.

I was just reading through this post earlier - http://boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055784440

This looks pretty cool. Just wondering if anyone could recommend a good but cheap one of these watches? I just want one that records my distance and can upload the results like you guys are doing.

I took a look on the website (https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=142) but they're fairly pricey, any suggestions?

    Cheers.

There are loads and loads of threads about the different Garmins, including another just a couple of threads away :)

Only thing I'll say is that there seem to be two ways watches have of recording your distance - footpod or GPS.

With a footpod, you have to calibrate it by running a set distance so it will work out your stride length. Then when you use it, it counts your strides and multiples that by your stride length to give you a distance. I don't think it's very accurate, maybe to within 5 or 10%?

With a GPS, the watch contacts a satellite to get your position, and checks again every few seconds to see how far you've moved. It's very accurate (and will tell you your speed as you run, etc) but more expensive.

Ah ye I seen that thread just after I posted this.

A GPS one is what I want! So any in particular that isn't going to break the bank?

    Cheers.

I think the 305 is the cheapest of the GPS ones, about £140 on Amazon
