my 206 has failed the nct on the rear axle. i was told to change the bushing but after doing some research and talking to a few garages i actually need a new axle beam and bushings or a good scrap axle or a reconditioned axle. just wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction for any of the above....

Try George Frayne in Naas, he specialises in Pugs and Citroens, If he can't do it, he'll know someone who can.

I had a 206 do this too. Cost me 1500 all in to replace the whole bloody axle. The swingarm bearings run directly on the axle. So when the lip seal fails and lets in water, the axle is wrecked.
Make sure the torsion bars are reinstalled at the correct height. Mine had to be re-done as it was too low. Looked cool but it scraped over the littlest of speed bumps!

well unless you meet a tool of a guard on your way down to get your car fixed i couldnt see a problem driving it down... if you think about the amount of cars failing the nct and then driving out off the test centre because they have to go get their car fixed:D

Is this too good to be true or a good idea?(Might be the difference between fixing & scrapping car)

I ended up using findapart.ie and partfinder.ie. 7 ppl got back to me with 206 axles. just another possible way of doing it. cost me $300 but could have got one for €150, unfortunately i jumped on the first one. worked out fine, and got me through the NCT.

Automotiva in Ellesmere Port sell 206 parts through ebay 'Automotiva_07703980666' but you can always take your car there and have a rummage.

    Automotiva
    1a merseyton road workshops
    Elm street
    Ellesmere Port
    CH65 2AU
    07738853545

There is also a local breakers yard called 'A1 Breakers' but they charge about twicer the price, but always worth a look if your stuck and live in the north west, i dont have their address but its by Shell.

Ebay seems to be the best resource but you are having to pay postage, the axles seem to average about £125 on there with postage on top (£25?)

Does anyone know if you can fit discs to a rear axle with drums? i am guessing it will be hard work

Hi I'm based in Sligo and am looking for a reconditioned rear axle that will pass NCT. I am badly stuck and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Only saw two places in Tipp and Kilkenny but they are too far away....I see some posters had ideas and contact details of lads in Longford and Donegal. Esp the poster who picked one up for €150. Thanks
