    Hi,

I'm sure there are other threads about this but are probably old.

I love the GTA series but GTA 4 just wasn't that much fun, was a chore to try and complete. I really don't want to get into the whole argument "GTA 4 is great/crap because..." but I was looking for some advice please.

The Hut has this game for a tasty 32 euro. The reviews are saying these are both brilliant games. My biggest beef with the GTA 4 was the driving physics and I ended up just getting takis everywhere. I heard they fixed some physics (specifically bikes) and other gameplay features. Can anyone tell me if this game is worth getting or is it just more of the same GTA 4?

PS. Started watching Sons of Anarchy (absolutely brilliant) and its what made me think of Lost and Damned.

    Thanks lads!

The bikes handle differently, but its not overly noticeable (at least it wasn't to me, but i was never bike mad to begin with). It's harder to fall off the bikes.

Honestly, Give GTA a good long chance and you'll love it. I bought it the day it came out and sold it a week later. Despised it.

Got it free when I bought an XBox a few months after that and I put it on again. Forced myself to play it for a few hours and I'm still playing it to this day, just skidding around the city and messing around. The driving in the game is fantastic in my opinion, but you just need to adjust to it.

Thanks KKV. I think I had prejudice(sp?) towards it cuz me and the lads all got it when it first came out and we couldn't play online together. As I think back, there was some great missions, characters and features (getting hella drunk) I put on GTA 4 a few weeks back and it started at the statue of liberty (after clearing it) and took me ages to get back to the mainland, got into a car and crashed, then turned it off. But looking at the reviews of this DLC, really wanna play it, just hope I won't be disappointed.

Think i might get it cheaper than 30 in town 2nd hand?

If you're willing to go the adverts route. No idea about shop pricing, sorry.

EDIT: Sorry, just realised that's not 'stories'. :o

Got it in argos a few weeks back at €27. Not a bad price and so far it's not a bad game.

It's not bad. The Ballad of Gay Tony is far better though.

I got GTA 4 played about 30% of it got bored of the long drives, Got the stories pack played about 30% of the biker one got to about 30% and havent gone back. Have not tried the gay tony one yet but i have a feeling it will go the same way.

I am a big fan of the GTA series and i loved GTA 4. I played it when it was released back in 2008 on my 360. I then sold my 360 and bought a ps3 so i couldnt play any of the 2 DLC's untill it was released last month on the PS3. I rented the game and gave both the DLC's a shot.

They are both great games. Infact i would have preferred it over GTA4 ( due to the new activities, better control and slightly better graphics/lightning) if it was released back then. However, if u play it now, its only a 8/10 game. The graphics are outdated, and the characters animations arent that great compared to other games nowadays.

if you played red dead redemption, u wont be impressed by both the DLC's.

I much preferred The Lost and The Damned, liked the serious story much better than The Ballad of Gay Tony which is far too over the top for me.

All the characters are as annoying as anything I have seen in any GTA game and the missions are all OTT plus it brought back in the management aspects and stupid minigames of GTA4 again.

IMO, if you liked RDR and its serious setting and story, you will love The Lost and the Damned.
If you liked Saints Row or just dicking around, you will like The Ballad of Gay Tony.

Having finished GTA IV to 100% completion and finished both episodes i highly recommend them if you like the main game. It really is just more of the same with a few improvements and some overlapping story missions. Definitely worth €30. The only people who where disappointed with IV where people who bought into the hype and the perfect review scores, peoples expectations where too high.

The Lost and Damned was good too but I just love the OTT vibe from The Ballad of Gay Tony. It brought back memories of Vice City.

Ah not really, I was just expecting a next Gen Vice city. I think VC just set a really high bar to try and top. Imagine VC with the next gen graphics and RAGE engine drooooooooooolllll

No it was rockstars fault for making gta 3, VC and SA so bloody good! No way they could have kept it up. It doesn't make the same impression as the old games did. Maybe the series has run it's course

nail on the head there mate,
gta4 was a great game but didnt hook me like all the previous games, especially vice-city which is by far the best imo, bought the episodes from liberty city, finished gay tony but felt like a chore, just seemed very dated, graphics, control response, frame rate, all sub par.

i started playing it straight after uncharted 2 which is prob the best game on the machine and the graphics on the projector screen looked so so bad in comparison, looked like an old game to be honest.

if ya didnt like gta4 ya prob wont like this, i would say rent it dude.

i am gonna throw mine in t ogamestop on monday and get mw2 for a fiver, good deal

Technically it is an old game.
