iPad - 3G model and HSPA speeds - Band(s) Clarification Needed

    Quick question all,
    If I purchase an iPad with 3G in US, is the 3G band here going to give me HSPA speeds?
    I thought we were on 900/1800 frequency here for 3G/3.5G, but Apples site has the following bands listed:

    * UMTS/HSDPA (850, 1900, 2100 MHz)
    * GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)

    If so, we are not on the bands indicated for UMTS/HSPA, as per above, but are listed for the slower GSM/Edge speeds...horrible thought..

    This was never my strong suit.
    I probably have it wrong... I hope I'm wrong. Yeah, I think I'm wrong.

    Still, can someone please clarify for me?

    Cheers,

    Ireland and the rest of Europe uses 2100 MHz for UMTS/HSDPA and 900/1800 for GSM/EDGE.

    Just updating and answering myself a little ;)
    From what I can gather, 900/1800 are for 2G (only) right...?
    Then what band do we use for 3G/3.5G?
