HI, im looking for a good value DAC to hook my pc up to my yet un-bought system. i have been looking all over the internet and for the most part its people raving about how great the cheap DAC they got is and how its as good as/better than the other DAC they own/have heard thats thousands of euro.

the only one i have really come across that i trust to any extent is the HRT music streamer+ but you cant get that for a reasonable amount in europe.

does anyone own one of these or a good €100 - €300 alternative?

    Thanks!

(im planning to get a rotel ra-04-se and B&W CM1's or CM5's depending on how flush i feel when i get to the shop)

One idea might be to use a mini disc player as a dac. There are usually a few cheap going on ebay/adverts.

Other than that, the musical fidelity v-dac is cheap and cheerful, and generally available/orderable.

Just one suggestion out of the many choices and combination's you could make ....Topping TP30 on ebay
Decent USB DAC ... quality components ...and built in Amplifier (TA2024) T-AMP which i can vouch for ..all in a quality metal case for near peanuts ...
So my suggestion would be get this ...dont buy the Rotel amp( chances are the T-amp will be better anyway ) and spent your money on a decent pair of fairly sensitive speakers (88db+) .:)

I was pleasantly surprised at how good these are for the money:

    BEHRINGER UCA222

Also if you are using a desktop or tower PC and have a spare pci slot one of these is not very spendy but gives great results, on eBay for around 80 Euro.

These always get rave reviews. They're very well recieved on internet forums too (avforums etc.).

I picked up Beresford TC-7510 DAC on ebay for €63, and they seem to get rave reviews...
(I'm waiting to get it delivered, so judgement will be awaited for another while!)

Made by Technolink by the looks of it ... i use one of they're phono preamps
Some excellent stuff .. OEM to lots of companys . Iv seen one UK highend brands Phono-pre in one of the mags , clearly a technolink OEM but with a 400% mark up on the technolink ownbrand version . lol
