I am going to France in September and I came across this website for tolls...http://www.tolltickets.com/default.aspx?lang=en-GB

Is there a catch to this or does it work out ok??

    Thanks

You can also just pay by credit card at the machine. Why pay 9% extra?

If your statement reads "...I have no credit card..."

In the tollcollect homepage payment is with VISA and Mastercard. Thus without a credit card one could only ask a relation to purchase on your behalf.

Cash is not that awkward. On a six hour drive through Italy two cash payments, Entry: Florence, first payment Trento, second exit Brennero. That Trento payment was voluntarily leaving the Autostrada.

    France is NOT Italy.

    Go to www.viamichelin.com

Work out how much your main routes are going to cost (there is always going to be the day out where you pay €12-15 or so but you usually can't legislate for that).

Then before you leave, go into the bank and get the amount you need in coin. Or do what I have at the moment and have a jar with "Tolls" written on it and all the spare change gets dropped in there.

The only time you will really be delayed at toll booths is if you are going the same way the French are on a bank holiday weekend. Other than that, cash is far easier and you can keep an account of what you are spending.
