Posting this abstract issue on the off-chance because of the wealth of Motoring knowledge on here!

    - Was asked to find out about an issue where the Passenger side window of a Mini Cooper (08 Reg) won't automatically close the extra few millimetres after the Door is closed?

Owner thinks it happened first around the time of the really cold spell of weather at the start of the year but at the same time doesn't remember any specific incident where it was frozen solid and forced thus causing damage....

I know the obvious answer is go fight with the Dealer over it, but if there's any advice, tips, trick or handy link I'd be in your debt :)

Can it be raised the the last bit when door is closed by operating the window button?
If it cant be raised the last bit, it looks like the car isnt picking up the door closing signal.

Easy fix, just needs its datums reset. Roll the window down, but keep your finger on the button, even when it hits the bottom. Keep holding it in the bottom position for 10 seconds after the window goes down. Then push the switch up and hold it, let the window close fully for 10 seconds and leave go. Job done!

Interesting. On most makes Ive seen, specifically Audi, only the convenience one touch open/close is lost.

The MINI has coupé doors, so no pillar means they have to drop approx 1cm and raise up again each time the door is opened/closed. If they get stuck in cold weather, they'll misbehave in future - e46 coupé is the same.

Im aware of that. My last 2 cars,Audi TT & now A5 both are pillarless but manage to maintain the 1cm drop etc even when system is interupted. Anyway, Ive learned something here which might well come in handy in future
