Just bought myself a nice Regatta pop up tent for the festival season. Half price in Argos. About €22.

It's insanely easy to put up and pack away. They have a few other tents half price too if you look through their online catalogue. Some bigger than the one above if you need more room.

Question - does it say somewhere that I can't see that these are waterproof/resistant?

yes, the hydrostatic head tells you how waterproof it is.

    2000mm hydrostatic head.

    Means it's waterproof.

    Good idea..Camping, beer bargains etc

This tent seems to be getting mixed reviews on argos.co.uk
Would I be right in saying that a double skin tent would be more waterproof than a single skin one?

No, double and single skins are equally waterproof if they have the same hydrostatic head, however you're more likely to get condensation inside a single skin tent. I'd never go for a single over a double, they get disgustingly hot!

I picked this up today in Halfords.

4-man (2 rooms) tent including 4 sleeping bags, 2 mattresses and 2 lamps. only €130!

I'm heading to Poland for a festival so splitting this between 4 of us is ideal, and it comes in a bag with wheels so handy for the travelling...

First rule of tent buying....you should always go for a tent with a bigger 'man' size than your posse.

Well that's why I went with one that had 2 rooms, should be grand... has the 2 rooms and a big central area so wont be short of space but I know what you mean. I've seen some ridiculous "4" man tents before

picked a tent up with 1200mm HH think im fu*cked haha

I would never buy a single layer tent, the term condensation doesn't really describe the disgusting feeling of water coming through onto you when your in contact with sides (and it can be very very hard not to be touching some part if tent is small

I wouldn't risk the single layer tent. If you go to the camping stores on Mary Street, you can pick up a decent double layer tent for cheap. Got one for about 30 euro and it was definitely worth it.

Cheapest one I've seen is on Guiney's website

Probably not the best quality, but probably same as the Argos/Tesco ones only a bit cheaper

i had that at oxegen last time i went... it pissed rain a lot that year and that tent held up reallly well, no leaking or anything was really happy with it especially for the price, just left it there when we were finished cause it was covered in mud(and it only cost 20 at the time) but it really served us well i was sad to leave it behind...

decided to go with this one this year:

i'll bring this one home with me this year, well at least i hope to bring it back from oxegen..
