Members Time in Clubs

I'm just wondering if there is much members times in clubs in general ?
I like to get out for 12-14 holes on a good evening during the summer when I can or play when I have a day off.
I'm finding that this is almost impossible to do at my club over the last few summers.
Everytime I check online to see if I can get out there is something on and the timesheet is often booked up solid until 7pm.
Between competitions, societies, classics, mixed competitions, team practice, etc there is no time for casual golf.
Once the timesheet finishes there is a huge pileup on the first teebox and you could often be waiting 30 minutes to get out and then you are battling the sunset.
I know that clubs are in financial difficulties and must maximise their income but they shouldn't be doing so at the expense of the paying members who provide the vast majority of the income.
Over the last few years the amount of free time has rapidly diminished while at the same time the fees have increased .
At this stage I think I'd nearly be better off paying green fees as I dont think I'm getting value for money as 70% of the time I try to play golf I cant due to no availability.
I seriously think that there should be no bookings allowed past 4.30pm.
Whats it like in other clubs up and down the country ,is there much time left free each day ?

Members time at lunch mon to sun for an hour also 4hrs on sat & sunday
    also every day after 5pm

the members time @ lunch on the weekend is very handy for still playing a competitive round even if I have to work a few hours at the weekend

    no complaints
also I would always just turn up on weeknights and fall in with someone

I found when ringing what you might be told would be a lot different if you actually just turn up,

What club are you a member of!? I agree with above... Sounds rediculous! You should look to other clubs!

There are around 800 full members I think.
Its especially busy during the summer months ,its easy enough to get out during the winter.
Due to work I can generally only play in the afternoons and that is when its especially busy.
Today for example ,there is a classic from 1-6pm,then team practice until 6.50
Tomorrow the same classic is on from 10am to 6pm,then a mixed competition after that until 7.40
