Just wondering who the Garda is, the big guy in the picture. I always see him around town. Is he a head Garda or something?

Either an Inspector or Superintendent, can't tell because the branch is blocking the epaulette.

I feel a bit uneasy when people are taking pictures of Gardai at protests and trying to work out thier roles etc... Why do you want to know?

I didn't take the picture, it's from Facebook where I saw it. There's no need to feel uneasy at my banal curiosity.

A very , very looong time ago he was a Sergeant in the Garda Station near my school - myself and my pals chatted to him a couple of times - he is unbelievably massive and a nice guy as well , no idea of his name though. Kinda surprised he hasn't retired yet.....

He seems like a very cool calm and collected fella, considering the rubbish he has to put up with.
