    Hi guys,

Only started driving properly a few months (maybe 2) ago but i'm happy enough doing it. Was just wondering if there's a set amount of time I should wait before applying for the test or just give it a whack as soon as you're comfortable in a car?

It takes, roughly, 3 months to get your test after you book it. Bear that in mind - you may not be ready just yet, but will you be in 3 months? Ask your instructor should you book a test yet.

Yeah i would ask your instructor too. I mean a test is doable after not much driving, i had mine complete with 3 months of driving (Probably not the best of ideas really, but it is doable!).

If you are in an area that you can pick a date in (eg Finglas) why not pick a date say a month or two away and work towards it in the meantime, making sure that you will be well equipped to pass - and all the better for the extra experience gained in the meantime.

Dont forget that you must have your Learner Permit at least 6months from date of issue before you sit your driving test.
You can book your test before the six months but, ensure that the test date is not short of it.

    Thanks alot guys!

I've actually just applied for my second provisional, had the original for ages before I bothered learning. I'll probably go ahead and stick with instructor's opinion, no point paying him if I'm not going to listen to him :D

    Thanks!
