Transfer Question

Whenever I hear about a transfer of one player to a club I never hear about a fee. Is it always undisclosed or are there just players wages involved?

Think it's normally just when a players contract is up that he can move. So it's not a transfer per se. They honour player contracts in Rugby, unlike Footy where everyone has a price. There isn't the same money in rugby, so they can't afford to pay for fee's as well as the player themselves.

OK supposing another BOD came along and started doing incredible things on the pitch, towards the end of his development contract. Meaning he could maybe go at the end of the season.

Remember BOD's amazing talent shone through quite late in a way - he wasn't a star at school like Luke Fitz. I think it was only for UCD that he started doing amazing stuff.

Could some rich French team come along and steal him away?

Would Leinster not be entitled to compensation for developing him?

Any how come it doesn't seem to happen? I wonder if there is a gentleman's agreement or something.

As far as I know there has really only been 2 transfered players between rugby clubs as in involving money. I think one is in the French league this year. Can't rememeber the name of the player or the clubs but someone on here is bound to know. I think I heard about it on Setanta.

Rugby contracts are normally for only 2 years as oppose to upto 6 years in soccer. Rugby being what it is creates more chance for serious injury.

Hmmm don't think he said anything about the players not honouring their contracts!

Isa Nacewa is one of them if that's true. But i really don't think it is.

I meant the clubs honour them, rather than the players themselves. As in clubs don't come in and try to buy out a players contract.

Ospreys paid a fee to Leeds for Justin Marshall a few seasons back.
