Was out on Sunday night for a couple of hours, set off at 11pm. Did the usual route and saw 15+ foxes, stopped counting after 15, but they were either too far off for a shot or just to sly and ran from the lamp.
Plenty of rabbits out as well, good to see them as none about last year.

Out again last night same time and same route and not a thing to be seen, zero out.

So what was the difference between the 2 nights any idea's anyone????????? A bit colder last night is all I can think of.

And the torch setup worked well enough, both give a long spot beam output. I have 2 - one hand held for scaning the fields the other on the scope. Good out to 150m -200m

It's hard to see the outline of the fox @150+ with this hand held torch - 100m is OK though, but easy to see and view through the scope.
You will spot the foxes eyes out past 200+ with the hand held and then it's only a mater of calling them in or go stalking out to them.

As always the lightforce 170, hand held or scope mounted, + dimmer is the business but this setup has no extra batteries to carry. But lets face it you don't get many out past the 150m mark to shoot at and this setup is looking good for the $$$$$$$. Just have to get out more to try it all out.

Dogs were a bit boisterous at about 2.30 this morning, and when I got up at 5.30 there was a vixen in the nephews larson trap , a right little vicous bstard.
She was very mangy, and I would guess one of last years cubs.
The Hornet took good care of her.

I heard of them being scarce due to lack of ground scent because of high atmospheric pressure during winter. Might be similar effect this time of year?

Look closely and you'll see that it's just 2 x 30mm scope mounts back to back. I got some 12mm flat bar from B&Q and filed the dovetail shape on the sides to let the mounts grip tightly.

It's a very handy way of attaching bits to a scope. See this car spot light I also made up using the same mount system.

For the torch setup I filed the dovetail angle from both sides to take the top mount, not just one edge as shown here.
