    Hey lads

Back playing goal after a few years out and my kickouts are just awful. Im using the new puntee for the kickouts and while its helping im finding i can barely move my right foot the next morning as its so sore.

Any goalkeepers out there with Suggestions to improve my kickouts or to stop the foot pain

    Thanks
    Moss

just back in goals myself kicking the ball out is a very repetitive movement off the tee.....you need to make sure you do a good warm up and have a good stretch before the match and most importantly a good warm down then nice bit of ice when u get home onto the foot you should be grand....bought a punt out of elverys for 30 quid dont even use it just use a cone got ripped..........as for the kickouts less power more technique you be grand

As casio said, a good warm up and cool down, but also keep moving during the game. Try using an ordinary cone, might be softer on the foot. I know that a couple of keepers that use two of the ones like these

Its all about technique. Rather than trying to drive 100 per cent through the ball, aim for about 90-95 per cent. Have a routine, so that every time you kick out a football its the same - like a golfer. Its practise after that!

and make sure your half forwards are moving into space...hate when the midfield and half forwards stand still easier to kick into space for someone who is moving....and of course maximise the sneaky short kick out to your backs

Im thinking its the puntee which is killing my foot as its too high off the ground and im getting too much of my right foot under it.

Forgot how heavy the O'Neills ball is compared to the soccer ones :)

Maybe get hold of a size 4 football to practise with first or a size 5 training ball, rather than the O Neills ball. Changing to a lower cone will probably help

Wear a couple of ankle socks on your kicking foot under your football socks!

Sort out your defence so you don't have to take as many;)
