Is anyone given the bumps anymore???

Random topic I know, but I just noticed recently that you never see guys (or girls) been given the bumps anymore. Years ago, it seemed that every wedding you went to, the groom was given the bumps or if it was someone’s birthday, they’d always be given the birthday bumps. Not sure is it a health and safety thing that people are more aware of the risks or is it just a tradition that died out.Do people still get given the bumps? Anyone have any funny, interesting or even unfortunate stories about been given the bumps either themselves or given to someone else? I always thought it was a good laugh (maybe not if you were the victim though..!!)

Hopefully not, given a litigation rush we are having.

Do it now and parents will be sued, child welfare could be brought in and the Gardi informed of a possible assault.
Similar for adults without the child social services - although some adults behave like two year olds!

knew a young fella who was given the bumps on his 21st and was dropped, broke ribs, punctured lung, concussion, loads of internal bleeding - the works. he was in intensive care for weeks and almost died. mad stuff.

Took me a while to catch on what was meant by "bumps". The last I remember partaking in the act of bumps was at my friends birthday party like eight years ago...we all gave the birthday boy the bumps and mysteriously sick appeared near where we gave him the bumps. That night my friend randomly walked home that night (during the middle of a sleepover) so we suspected it was him....dun dun duuuuuun we never did solve that myster

I remember getting the bumps when I was a kid.

But as Keira said... the bumps is basically 4 people grabbing someone (lying flat) by the limbs... and throwing them into the air and then dragging them back down again... constantly doing that for ages... Quite the buzz as far as I can recall...

but yeah... haven't seen anything like that in about 10 years or so...

I am 17 stone and 6 foot something. You will need a hell of a lot more people than 4.... or 4 weightlifters.

yes, I'm also 6 foot something but only 12 stone and had about 15 drunk guys give me the bumps outside a nightclub for my 30th birthday a few years ago. I think they wanted to see how high they could toss me. Being flung 10 feet into the air 30 times over is a weird freak out feeling. Hadn't seen the bumps done to anyone in years until I got them myself!!!

Bumps have been replaced in most schools by birthday bashes instead where all of the class punch the birthday boy on the upper arm/shoulder the appropriate number of times (by the time it has happened 25 - 30 times the birthdayer generally has a pretty dead arm.

If you remember it happening years ago you are probably an adult now and I've never seen an adult get the bumps.
