spraying rushes

    i have just spread top dress on fairly good grass for silage however there are rushes starting to appear too,when would be best to spray for rushes,will i leave it a while for the top dress to work or would spraying stop the growth a bit or should i wait till it is cut ?

    if the grass is very strong its pointless spraying them as you wont get proper coverage. the best thing to do is wait and cut the silage and leave it for a few weeks for the rushes to emerge then spray them with mpsa or mortone.
