Three crimes, two detectives, one continuing argument… Vexed is a fast-paced, glossy comedy drama, about a detective duo with real chemistry.
Bright, sexy and funny, Vexed is written by Howard Overman and features Kate (Lucy Punch) and Jack (Toby Stephens) juggling work with personal lives as complicated as the cases they investigate. They may be cops, but Jack and Kate suffer the same frustrations, pre-occupations and insecurities as the rest of us.
Always on the move or in their unofficial office – the local cafe opposite the police station where the coffee and gossip are better – their cases say something about modern life in a fresh and entertaining way.

    Its starting on BBC2 soon

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/latestnews/2012/vexed.html
BBC Two announces that shooting has begun on series two of detective comedy Vexed, starring Toby Stephens (Jane Eyre, Robin Hood, Cambridge Spies) who reprises his role as D.I. Jack Armstrong, paired with Miranda Raison (Spooks, Merlin, Married Single Other) who plays newly promoted D.I. Georgina Dixon.
Vexed is being filmed in Dublin, Eire, and comprises six 60-minute episodes to air later this year. The series is created by Howard Overman (Misfits) with episodes written by Chris Bucknall, James Wood, Steve Coombes and Harry & Jack Williams.
Also returning from series one are Roger Griffiths (Holby City, Chef) and Ronny Jhutti (Survivors, Ideal) with Nick Dunning (The Iron Lady, The Tudors) joining to play Georgina’s father.
D.I. Jack Armstrong (Stephens) has a new partner in the shape of D.I. Georgina Dixon (Raison). Armstrong is charming, disorganised and prone to laziness so it comes as no surprise that sparks fly when he’s partnered with the ambitious and highly efficient Dixon. Jack’s best friend, café-owner and ex-cop Tony (Griffiths) and colleague Naz (Jhutti) complete the crime solving team. Episode one sees the duo tackle the murder of a cocky car salesman, but things are not quite as they seem.
Chris Sussman, Executive Producer for the BBC, says: "We're very much looking forward to the return of Vexed. The second series promises to be just as much fun as the first, and with Miranda Raison joining Toby Stephens as new partner D.I. Dixon, we're hoping it's going to be all guns blazing."
Jill Green, Executive Producer, Eleventh Hour Films, adds: “In a recession we need shows that make us laugh, and that’s where Vexed fits in - a perfectly distinctive ‘yin yang’ take on modern day life.”
Vexed has been commissioned by Cheryl Taylor, Controller of Comedy Commissioning and Janice Hadlow, Controller of BBC Two.
It is an Eleventh Hour Films production, executive producers are Chris Sussman for the BBC and Jill Green for Eleventh Hour Films. Produced by Eve Gutierrez for Eleventh Hour Films and Directed by Ian FitzGibbon (eps 1-3) and Kieron J. Walsh (eps 4-6).

I like Lucy Punch. She was hilarious in The Class.

Vexed Series 2 starts on BBC2 Wednesday 1st August at 9.00pm
Comedy police procedural about a mismatched pair of detectives. A murder at a car showroom brings together DI Jack Armstrong with a new partner, bright fast-tracker Georgina Dixon. These two could not be more different to each other and the sparks immediately start to fly as Jack gets increasingly wound up by Georgina's determination to solve their first case together and Georgina becomes exasperated by his casual attitude.

Pity Lucy Punch is now "big (well busy) in America" but I approve of her replacement!

Looking forward to this, they have shortened the show to one hour, I seem to remember Series One was 90 minutes(?), so it should have added punch(sorry). I like the new girl already, a perfect foil to Toby.

I'm pretty certain that each episode in series one was only an hour long.

But they have doubled the number of episodes - 6 this time around.

Vexed has been very unlucky, first the production company goes bust, then Lucy Punch gets a gig in the States (probably due to that hiatus) and Howard Overman has stepped back from writing so its basically like starting all over again. I enjoyed some of the interplay but the actual procedural was clearly nothing more than scaffolding upon which to try to hang the gags - of which there were clearly not enough. The black comedy has vanished.

There are six episodes in the can so I'll give it another go before writing it off.

I recorded it so haven't watched it yet

According to RTE it was shot in Dublin.
The new series sees disorganised Detective Inspector Jack Armstrong (Toby Stephens) joined by a highly efficient rookie partner, Georgina Dixon (Miranda Raison).

In episode one the duo investigate the death of a car salesman whose body is found in the boot of one of his vehicles.

Vexed was filmed in Dublin earlier this year.

Enjoyable first episode, well played by all; a bit lighter than Series One perhaps, but fun for this time of year. Georgina is an able foil for Jack, who mugs it up at every opportunity.
It's a bit of fluff, admittedly, but in a memorable way.
Georgina is an entirely different proposition with her hair down, imho.

    A memory from Season One:

Correct. What made me think it was 90 minutes? Too much Sherlock, I think.

Really enjoyed tonight's episode. Some of it is cringeworthy, but parts are inspired.
The five minutes in the partner's office was excellent.

It was better tonight esp Jacks various adolescent obsessings! While Georgina needs to wear her hair back while in snug keep fit gear all the time :)

Reece Shearsmith popped up in tonights episode for a brief cameo, probably the best in the current run so far.
