Rubbberwood Tables

Got a Rubberwood table three years ago from Homebase but now the surface is compromised and sticky. Think some household cleaning spray did the job.
Anyway, wondering if anyone knows the best way to approach a repair job.

It's a pain in the hole at the moment because every time you put something on the table it sticks to it.

Will a resand and varnish do the trick or am I looking at getting a professional spray and treatment job?

    TIA
