    Howdy,

Have been searching the net and the forum but cant find the anwser to my question. I just picked up my HTC Desire yesterday and I love it. However I'm trynig to find one way of working contacts that my friend showed me on his nexus one, and was wondering if its possible on the HTC Desire.

He has his gmail, facebook and phonebook among other things all inter twined. The persons facebook picture shows as they contact picture in the phonebook, and from selecting that individual from your contacts list you can select to send them an email, text, phone call, facebook message, post on their wall, tweet them and loads more options.

Just wondering if this is possible on the Desire, scowered the phone and have seen the possability of it alright, just dont know where exactly it is.

Seemes really messy and muddy, it jsut imported everyone I ever emailed from gmail so I have all these random contacts I dont want at all to see on my phone, and I've people that i contact regularly through different mediums, so jsut want it all a bit seemless and streamlined.

    Cheers in advance.

Log into Google contacts on your pc and clean up all your contacts and then sync. I don't know about Facebook, never used it.

I think I found it, there an option to "link" accounts and sync with flickr, facebook twitter etc.

Assume I jsut go home and sync every person I have manually, if theres an automated way sure let me know.

Thanks for Justin I'll try that when I'm home later.

If you just want the facebook pics on your google contacts theres an app called syncmypix that will match them and download.

Sound job. Raging i havnt got a data plan , im in work sweating to mess around with it online :D

I'll have a look at that app cheers.

I vry much love the widget idea of having my mostly contacted friends there for quick messaging.

So having all their emails, numbers, facebook etc under their picture would be really useful to me

I found manually a one by one basis on how to link facebook and twitters to each of my contacts, amazing feature.

Can google contacts allow me to do this in mass?

Doing it for each individual contact might take time :O

Had a look at google contacts there when I got home, not really what I want to do at all.

Theres about five people in gmail I have in my actual phonebook, the rest are random people I've mailed down the years.

I got that snycmypics and it wasnt the best, assigning the wrong pictures to the wrong people and it wasnt what I was after.

    To re-iterate

I know theres a way to link contacts streamlined.

    For example

Joe Soap is in my phonebook, he has a facebook account and a twitter and an email address.

I want all his stuff linked under one contact, so I can grab the "people" HTC widget and use that to pretty much contact anyone. So I want the base to the the phone number, and stem from there. ( The people HTC app only shows numbers in the phone)

    Any help would be appreciated.

I know a friend of mine has this working on his nexus but hes abroad at the moment so i cant pick his brain

    Cheers

You could just install the Nexus One contacts app and be done with it? I'm fairly sure it's possible to do on the Desire as is but as I don't use Facebook e.t.c. I would have no idea how to help you with that.

Would that involve rooting? Something im not looking at doing at the moment : /

    It would, yes.

It's not that difficult to do but it's up to you.

Thanks for the solution, but after having a jailbroking ipod, which sounded cool, but after a few months use realised I wasnt using it to its full potential.

I just found "connectbot" which is a cmd line programme allowing me to SSH , so that really covers my bases in fairness.

A mate got this all sorted last night so hes coming over to tell me how to do it.

But ni the meantime I can share my minimal success.

I was trying to achieve this through the "people" tab. I treat it as my phone contacts, and have just phone numbers showing. I got syncmypix and got everyones email linked with their picture, but it wont let me link their picture to their phone contact, which is annoying.

I can manually input phone number into contact cards through " search people" but I'm not manually enteriing 250 numbers : /

Also I've been compeltely unable to link accounts. When I'm looking at someones contact card there is an option to link to twitter, facebook and flickr, exactly what I want. But when I click " link to facebook account" it just says " no contacts found"

If anyone has any suggestions or solutions id be appreciated, although like i said one of the boys will be over the weekend to hook me up ;)

If your like me and a social networking whore, this phone shines with it seemless streamlining of all that jazz.
