Fridge not cold enough... Freezer a block of ice

    Hello All,

I have a Zanussi/Electrolux fridge freezer that has recently decided to play up. Basically my food in the fridge is going off but the freezer is like a block of ice. I have defrosted the whole lot a few times but within 48 hours the freezer is just frozen up again and food is going bad in the fridge.

The unit is approx 6-7 years old so it has had a good run but deciding now if worth putting repair money into or just call it quits and replace it - or maybe there is a simple fix that someone can recommend?

I would usuaally have a crack at fixing most things but I am stumped on this. Am guessing not compressor related cause freezer is working too well so could it be some type of thermostat?

    Thanks for any help.

PS - anyone recommend a good Zanussi/Electrolux fridge/freezer repair guy?

    Paddy

is it a frost free model ? (fan assembly in the freezer)

a stat could be gone on the heating element circuit causing the heater not to kick in and ice to build up and block the vent into the fridge (hence freezer over iced and fridge not getting cool air )

Think I have figured out the issue.. seems the seal in banjaxed on the freezer so it was constantly freezing itself and taking the cool air from the fridge. Going to defrost it again and see if I can sort out the seal.

    Thanks
