Hi all,all advice greatly accepted,a friend of mine crashed into a set of gates recently causing considerable damage,he got some news at 3am. got into the company van lost control, thought he clipped the gates but knocked the lot down, anyway he continued his journey, thing is the guards have the cctv footage and so does his company, the cost is being put on the insurance, was very accidental and he froze and panicked. The management company got a call from him the next day, will or should the gardai get involved, possibly charge him with careless driving or anything else.:o

He would be more likely to be charged with hit and run than criminal damage. Section 106 of the road traffic acts.
