Having problems with my laptop, a Dell Inspiron something(don't have it with me, atm).
I press the button to turn it on and it gets a bit of the way bit just after it loads(black screen, windows logo and the blue line going forward and back), yeah, when it finishes that the scren goes black in up in the leftg hand corner it says "Disk read error, press Ctrl+Alt+Dlt to restart.
I press Ctrl+Alt+D;t. but the loading screen ust comes up again, and repeat. It doesn't get me anywhere.
I'm on Windows Vista, if it makes a difference.

Any ideas on how to fix it or should I just take it to a shop?

    Sorry,

If doing this I should warn you. You will lose all your files.

When booting past the BIOS, the screen where the DELL Logo comes up, Hold CTRL and tap F11 a few times.

This should boot from the recovery partition and hopefully fix your problem, however a "disk read error" is not good at all. It could be that your disk has packed in.

I hope you backed up all your "stuff"

Try hold down f8 ,reboot, safe mode, directory services restore.

Tried these suggestions but none of them did a thing to it.

Set bios boot from cd, boot priority cd dvd =0 , then try a linux live cd, or www.ntfs.com ,from there you can make a vista windows livecd using the active bootdisk demo if you have acess to a pc with a cdr burner.

OR else just install a new hardrive and install windows.
