what are the chances of it happening!!
June again and im single, well alone again!! every year it seems to happen to me! although this year it was more the girl i was seeing has gone on a 6 week holiday, but still. this time it really sucks because she is heading to the states in sept for 9mths albeit back at christmas.

Whats a guy to do!! has anyone ever actually gone through a long term distance relationship like this here on boards? if so post your thoughts!
Like me and this girl went for the not ties as bf and gf due to this but we have both fallen for each other in a major way! I dont want it to end or loose her, and im going to stay faithful to her as long as we are still connected. but just what are peoples opinions?

She does have to return to ireland for final yr college in 2011 and i will still be here due to employment contracts! im two years older!

so what are your thoughts boardsies, a couple who set out for just fun and now we have fallen head over heals for each other but she is heading away!! will it work or is it in truth doomed? even if it is doomed it will keep going to the last as i refuse to throw away something that has brightened up my life this much. Id prefer to have a completely broken heart than to have regrets! and yes i have had a past experience of being heartbroken!

    thanks guys and gals

I'm going to a wedding on Saturday of two people who met one month before circumstance kept them on opposite sites of the world (Ireland and Australia, then Ireland and USA) for the remainder of their relationship. So it can work if you both want it to.

    Hi Op,

Thats a toughy, if it works it will be an amazing story, kind of like the note book really haha.
But ya im not too sure, i did a long dist. relationship about two years ago and it went tits up to say the least, but that said i was just being used as a convienance in reality. i should have seen it but meh what can ya do.

All i can say is if there is a connection it might work but be prepared for a very long hard road in my opinion but the best things in life are the hardest to get!

    all the best

It can work but it takes effort .
I'm marrying my fiancee in September. I won't have seen her in six months (saving for wedding etc) but we do webcam every day we can and if webcam isnt possible (time difference) we call eachother on the phone during lunch breaks and chat online when we should be working :D
If it is real love, you will find a way .

    Best of luck :)
