Does anyone with super amazing psychic abilities know whats coming up in the european section? I dont do the architecture and its so hard to remember who has what kind of brush strokes etc.......
I got a B1 in my mock cos my Art History let me down in th european section (My practical was allll A1, SO annoying!!!!) and seeing as newgrange and the gallery question are practically guaranteed, then eh....

    STUPID EUROPEAN ART! *shakes fist*

hahah thanks for ANY random predictions!!!

Yeah, as I said in the Predictions thread, would you not be able to get away with just learning off the Gothic and Romanesque periods really well seeing as a question on them comes up EVERY year?

I really hope so because that's the only thing in European art that I can stand studying...

mee too! my art teacher is really pushing me coz he said they literally cant take ANY points off me for my practicle work, coz it was all A1 standard...and no one else has a hope of getting an A....no pressure for art history then, eh?:(

anyway im learning Romanesque REALLY well, coz Gothic came up the last two years, so bound to come up this year? still gonna do gothic but not in as much detail....
And obv Newgrange, coz it came up in the mock and due every second year :)
and then im doing my gallery Q on the francis bacon exbo in the hugh lane...but also preparing a sculpture Q coz in 2004 there was NO gallery Q...I secretly FREAKING OUT that it will happen again this year- but fingers crossed:rolleyes:
ohh and Da Vinci, Michealango and RAPHAEL...(rapheal is tipped this year ;) ) but not in much detail, just really a backup...

    Whats everyone else doing?:D

Oh god I hate art history. It really does give a huge disadvantage to those really good at art hoping to get A1s who aren't good at learning/writing essays. It should definitely be a separate subject.
Fortunately for me I'm NOT good at practical so I don't need to worry about art history either :P
For European I'm learning the impressionists really well. You can always fit them in somewhere, even if it is that question which asks you to talk about a painting with the following features, and then lists things like "dance", or "water" :D

Well I cant do Gothic or Romanesque or whatever it was, and Raphael and all them fellas, we never covered anything except like the impressionist, post impressionist chapters at the start of fifth year and the teacher confused us all by continually mixing up monet and manet and saying degas was expressionist, she was out rest of the time with no sub.. the week before the practical we spent a double class talking about the design of a cup her three year old likes to drink from.. So yeah I REALLY wish i had a crystal ball :P CRAM TIME!!!

Art history REALLY needs to be a second subject..

OKAY check this out, i went through all the papers, back to 2004 and I think theres a pattern!

2009: Gothic + Iron Age + Michelangelo + gallery question
    2008: Gothic + New Grange + Caravagio&Picasso + gallery question
2007: Romanesque + Iron Age + Raphael + gallery question
2006: Gothic + New Grange + Raphael + gallery question
2005: Gothic + Bronze Age + Michelangelo + gallery question
    2004: Romanesque + New Grange + Leonardo&Raphael + gallery question

    soooo im predicting
2010: Romanesque + New Grange + Leonardo + Gallery Question

I heard alot of rumours bout Raphael this year, but looking at it im not too sure....
so ima study Romanesque (and Gothic just incase) + New Grange + Leonardo (just as a backup for the Gallery Q) + Gallery Question

    BRING IT ON :D:D

I've be studying Newgrange, La Tene period and up to High Crosses for Irish Q, Mikey, Leo and Raph, Monet, Manet and Degas for 2nd Question and Then Gallery question for 3rd, but brushed up on my vocab for a graphics question juuust in case.

No idea on what might come up, but if the mocks were anything to go by, you can't skimp on anything!

Not trying to put a downer on ya man, but there have been years where they skip on the four Ninjas in place of a Q on Botticelli or pre high Renaissance painters (counting Donatello out)! Just give the pre Renaissance a look over just in case!

with the one percent scheme and all now... could be likely!!

i think im gonna do newgrange and bronze age too...

and for the euro...ill just do monet and degas and matisse-fauvism... i really like matisse and if i got one of those "artistic innovator" questions he'd be the job!

Oh god, art history is a disaster, absolutely no clue about question 3, appreciation of art cause we have never done a proper essay on that so i am hoping something really weird and crazy comes up so everyone else will be just as lost as me and we will all have to rely on our own personal artistic knowledge.

I am studying newgrange, bronze age, iron age and sort of the crosses for question 1 and for question 2, the european art i've done degas, monet, manet and then post impressionists vangogh and cezanne. I know a little about cubism and picasso and magritte too. Problem is I just have a huge waterd down knowledge if everything but not enough about anything to write an essay on a particular artist.

My sketches are a disaster. Anyone have any tips on the sketches? Post impr. are tipped to come up apparently.

what do peoples think of bosch or caravaggio coming up?? Our art teacher tipped them so they've been stuck in my head since :)

    one percent scheme...
basically whatever the worth of any new public building one percent of what its worth goes to works of art. for example the cork school of music has three pieces in it all amounting to one percent of its cost (which was about 60 million)

as far as i know it applies to all public buildings as of a few years ago!!

    hope that helped! :D

I'm doing post Impressionism ( van gogh cezanne ) Ghibertis Bapistery Doors ( Romanesque architecture) and Autun Cathedral ( gothic Sculpture )

For Irish Newgrange, and Georgian Architexture ( customs house, casino Marino and four courts )

    I think I'm pretty sorted.
