not sure about emergency tax amount paid..

    hi, im totally confused about my emergency tax.. i started work on the 15th of Oct and have been taxed up until last month as i have only handed in my p45 last month. so i received my tax back at the weekend, i received 1600 but according to my calculations i have been taxed 1600 from jan-april alone so im sure im owed more tax back from oct-dec?
    i was taxed at LEAST 800 in oct-dec as far as i can remember so im just wondering would the tax i received back only include the tax yr from oct-april perhaps?
    can anyone help :(? thanks!

    that is correct. the tax year is jan- dec

    you could have claimed all the emergency tax from last year in Jan simply bu ringing revenue and asking for a P21 balancing statement for 2009.

    You can still do that for last years over paid tax refund
