Ooh, that new Fresh New Forum smell ...

So with Season 2 finished & no real indication of who these guys are and what their agenda is, what do you guys think of them?

I initially thought they were part of the alternate universe Fauxlivia and Walternate's from - some kind of agency policing the cracks & Fringe events - but that theory seems to have been negated by our visitation to the alternate universe.

From what I can gather and interpret, it seems to me like they're some sort of 3rd party who are quietly steering the fate of "our" two universes (though they have swung a little, from non-interference, to subtle interference) I'm not sure they have any malevolent agenda - after all they did effectively save Peter, but was that just to save the space/time continuum from getting buggered up?

Are they from a 3rd, even more different universe? Perhaps they exist outside of our laws of physics, or could it be something different altogether - aliens perhaps? Their strange, anachronistic appearance & manner is a bit alien & it reminds me of the Half Life series, specifically the G-man character. I'm not convinced they're ETs as despite a climax featuring alternate universes, throwing aliens into the mix would feel a step too far.

What are other people's thoughts?

My first theory was that they were aliens, then I though they were some sort of time cops magaging the univers course corrections.
Its possibly both. Maybe they are from another universe. Perhaps something they did caused changes in both our universe's & they have steer corrections though time to correct thier mistakes.

I think they will turn out to be basically janitors of the multi-verse, observing things, to make sure they turn out the way there suppose to. As for why they are doing this, well I don't really know.

They also remind me of Marvel comics the Watcher. I reckon they were inspired by that characters race.

I have to agree with the other poster; they seem to be the Janitors of the multi-verses. Or alternatively - they're from the Future and they're making sure the events happen exactly as they were supposed to.

I agree the Observers are here to keep an eye on the universe and to ensure events progress as they should. From the series we know they have been here before as Nina mentioned this to Broyles and a big event occurred.

However I think we may see them getting more involved then they are supposed to in Season 3 - especially as they know how important Peter is to protecting and saving our verse and with Alt Olivia now over to do Walternets work I think they may be forced to intervene.

It will be interesting to see how they take this one on into the next seasons. I imagine they will lead to a deeper story than what we see at the moment.

my take on the the Observers is that there pretty similar to the Guardians from Green Lantern.
