Does a multi fuel stove need twin walled flexi flue?

Does a multi fuel stove need to have twin skinned/twin walled flexi flue liner?

A well known heating merchants here in Dublin has told me today that a single walled stainless flexi liner will do the job just as good and will last.Just drop it down the chimney and attach it to the top of the stove.

The twin walled seems to be quite expensive when compared to single skin/walled flexi flue liner.

Is this true or is this just a sales pitch or are they right in saying that single skin will be fine for multi fuel stove??

Sorted now.

Got 10 meters of multi fuel twin wall stainless flexi flue liner and a complete fitting kit from a large plumbing suppliers in Dublin 15 today,and for not alot of money too.Alot cheaper than I thought it was going to be.

hi paddy, this builder supplier has given you wrong advice, i had a similar experience,for solid flue you can use flexi flue but it must be double walled as opposed to single walled which is only for oil and gas, and will burn out, also if its a chimney thats been used before you need to insulate around the pipe with vermiculite to prevent soot and tar deposits from going on fire,i bought a charnwood stove and due to bad advice at a hardware shop almost had a fire, contacted charnwood they gave me the name of a company in nenagh tipperary who specialise in stoves and installation, from a situation where i was throwing the stove out, i now regard it as my best buy in the last few years,definitely better than those eircom shares, anyone want the companys no. ill happily provide it, sorry about being long winded but safety is soo important, terluc,

I was like you getting mixed installation advice from fitters. I have the stove sitting and waiting to be installed. My stove is free standing and will be going outside by way of a 45 degree angle and so on. Could you let me have the name of the fitter in Nenagh Tipperary. Thanks.
