    Hi
Anyone use any custom config settings for battlefield bc2? If you do what are they?
    Cheers

Well it depends on the GPU you have coz that is what most of them relate to. But the 1st thing you HAVE to do is change the FOV from default 55 i think it is. I have mine at 85 and it works out pretty well, the rest is forcing the max AA an AF and ALWAYS turn off that BLOOM crap it just blocks your vision on the battlfield.

I use the launcher in the below link.. but as Wonda Boy said... change your FOV

If you use this lancher it works out what you should be using.

    I changed mine to 65.

    Cheers lads!
I've been playing with the default settings.
Another thing I've noticed that a lot of the irish guys are getting pings in the mid 80's on TiG and Craggy, myself I get between 150 and 250, weird that, I'm in Dundrum atm (corkman by birth!!!) with BT. I dunno mybe it's down to older phone lines.
I was thinking of going for UPC 15Mbit. Anyone notice running behind a wall and still getting shot, dunno if it's some lag compensation code running or if it's just lag on my side.

I've been lucky with my PC, I've had it ages but it's still trucking!
    Processor's a Q930 quad,
Still using a nvidia GTX8800 (got some serious milage out of that baby) so no directX 11 for me.
    4 gigs of ram
    64bit windows 7

Next on the purchase list is a power rack and some more weights so, I can't see myself spending any money on the PC for another year or 2 ^ ^.

It's probably worth noting that you see ping on the server select screen, but it's latency, some kind of overall processing and round trip time combination.

Vodafone (who took over BT) are falling apart. There's numerous complaints about their service, and they've had to resort to this kind of thing:

Now that you mention it, youtube has been going pretty poorly. BT were a shower of pricks, throttling me constantly, no throttling since vodafone too over.
Only reason I left UPC was because we moved from sandyford (terrible place to live nothing there at all) to goatstown (quite like it, good neighbours etc) and UPC weren't offering BB in the area, used to get pretty constant 50 ping with NTL in sandyford.

I just cancelled Vodafone as since they took over BT the BB was pure ****. Discinnections, outtages for 2 days. I went with the Fibre BB and HD TV pack with UPC and its UBER GOOD!

No contention ratio at all and UNLIMITED DOWNLOADING PORN its a godsent and I am in MEATH!

Your pings are probably high as the servers are in the UK. No luck in getting EA to give the contract to an Irish hosting company yet :(

Must turn off the bloom, if for nothing else than so I can play on that desert map :P

Why would you have it at 65?! They added changeable FOV so people could get OUT of that FOV!

I have mine set at 90, good old UT days :D I also have my dxversion=9. Since the last update the dx9 bugs are fine, graphics look identical to dx10 and 11, with the advantage of a 15-20% performance increase ;)

It was set to 55 originally.

I used the calculator on the app that determines what you should be using for your screen resolution.. and it calculated mine @ 65

I will look at it again..if you think I really have it below what it should be.

    Using a 24" monitor on 1920 x 1200 running off a GTX285

You guys are off your rocker....calculators me arse. Set the FOV and see how it plays with you. Set it at whatever performs the best for you and your style.....dont like it higher it or lower it....thats the best way.

FoV is now set at 78. Set Bloom to False, but still can't see anything in the Desert map if flying towards the Russian base :(

    Hi gents
Well I applied most the suggestions and looks like the game is running smoother, even raised the resolution to my monitor's max without any issues.
Still getting knifed by the spearman but hey, that's always gonna happen:D

Bloom is what happens when you look at the sun or go from a dark area to a bright area. Think in the desert it's actually sand storms happening.

Thats why I dont fly the choppers on Atacma Desert...from inside the cockpit you can see nothing. Outside view and its fine, its like this no matter what on my card (Ati 5970) regardless of DX setting with the bloom off.

I find the biggest difference for the silly bloom, is not actually turning bloom off, but adjusting the gamma & contrast (either via the monitor itself, or via your gfx control panel).

    Makes a HUGE difference.

Also in relation to the ping issues, I had mine set to a specific value (in the gamesettings.ini) cause I was getting around 20-30 on most servers, including TiG) but have a feeling on Craggy my ping is much higher, hence the major hit detection issues.
    http://forums.electronicarts.co.uk/battlefield-bad-company-2-pc/1044711-possible-fix-hit-detection-latency-compensation.html

Here's a good config game launcher
    http://www.fileplanet.com/210430/210000/fileinfo/Battlefield:-Bad-Company-2---Gossamer%27s-BC2-Config-Launcher

No need to mess with config files, this does it through a GUI (havent used it myself, but looks good)

I tried this yesterday and got my ass handed to me on a plate....could not hit a fuggin thing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 914 ✭✭✭TheFairy

Thats the negative side of it, if due to any reason your ping is higher than normal then the game goes to ****.

Yeah better to leave well enough alone....Just needed something to give me an edge....LMFAO :D
