Does anyone know of a shop (Bishopstown/ Wilton/ Togher area ideally) that has one of those change converting machines in them?

I've a Bewleys cup full here and I reckon it could get me food for the week.

Not sure about the areas you mentioned.
But I have seen one in Tesco Mahon, behind the tills.

As for commision I'm not sure.

I think the tiny shop across from Ballypheane church does it too and it's not a machine, random place I know but I think the old guy who owns it has a small machine and he'll exchange it for notes for you, maybe it's 'cos it's so close to the credit union, who knows.

Theres also a machine in the Tesco in Douglas down behind the tills by the drink section. As far as I can remember it keeps about 10% and gives you a docket for the remainder that you can cash in at the customer service desk. Works well, cashed in about E80 a few months ago.

Nice one! Douglas is only over the road.

They keep 10%-15% alright but it's worth nothing just sitting on my desk!

Quishes Supervalu in Ballincollig has one near the tills, got 110 quid the last time

some of the machines charge 12.5%, they are handy if you have a heap of change and just dont feel like counting it all out,

there is one in the centra on the curraheen road, its down the back of the shop past the deli, beside the atm machine

Good to see someone making a change. Hmm just had a thought, how much does a 1cent coin weigh? Could it be enough to pour say a 100 of them on to a digital weighing scales and calculate by weight and value as such? Cue business idea.

They kinda already do that...you know in banks and the likes, weigh a bag of coins to check the amount...

Yup and ive seen small corner shops using the deli weighing scales for weighing the small coins also. Saves a lot of hassle of counting out the little 1c's.

Don't use those coin machines, u are going to pay the unnecessary fee...
Rather do as i always do: on ur next visit to bank ask for the coinbags, then next time when ur sitting on the grass sipping beer count ur coins to those bags:)
It is written on the bag how many coins of which sort u must put in one.
And ur bank is changing them to notes or lodging them to ur bank account free of charge.

I'd do the same as kart & bag them up, minus the grass & beer part though. :)

Just out of curiosity does anyone know who owns these machines?

I love counting 1c and 2c coins. Just knowing that they will soon change into fivers and tenners. :D

Don't bother with those change counting machines. Just bring your cup up to the self service machines and drop the coins in one at a time. I did that many a time in Tesco on Paul Street.
    And it doesn't cost anything!

A company called coin express. My shop has one and it never ceases to amaze me with the amount of people that have two euro coins being counted. That's 24c gone immediately. I can understand the coppers.

exactly brian, thats what im talking about... ok if they are doing the counting with coppers... but by counting anything bigger than that - they must be just insane like. Just giving money away for nothing.
