My alarm keyfob for my 2002 Honda Civic is fairly nackered and I need a new one. Can anyone tell me what i have to do to get one and roughly how much it might cost? I assume any honda dealer can do it for me, do I need to being any proof of ownership info or anything?

Got one done for the Stream (same system). The fob is about €100, re-programming took about 20 mins. The Honda dealer didn't charge me for the programming :)

I got one for my old 00 civic. Got it off ebay, found out how to reprogram it after doing a bit of googling, and that what that.

Think the fob was E40 or something. Make sure its an easy process to reprogram it before you go DIYing.

I just called an Honda dealer and they want €125 +vat for the keyfob alone (just one, not even two of them) and then programming etc would be extra. That's ridiculous!!!

Ok, can anyone tell me how you could DIY this, or is there someone who could do it for me as a nixer?
    Thanks

The 2001 model is also the 2002 model yes? A quick google showed up this:

As far as I can remember, thats exactly how I did it on my 00 civic. If you can find a replacment fob on ebay (2nd hand) they sometimes include instructions. If not on ebay, maybe a scrappy might have one they could sell ya.

EDIT: What do you mean your fob is fairly knackered? Does it just need a new casing? Can you open it up and remove its insides? What im getting at is you could just transfer the insides if your one to the insides of another case. It would retain its progamming, and you'll have a new case.
