You need a capture card of some sort....

here's a post explaining what to get I did a while back

Right, probably the best person to answer this since I've tried and tested them all.

First, it depends on what you want quality wise and how much your willing to spend.

    Cheapest option is:
    Easycap €9.99 from ebay

    easycap-usb.jpg

It will record in SD (Standard Definition) and uses composite / svideo.
I use it to record everything, from my Nes, megadrive, xbox to VHS and converting old video camera movies for relatives

    next on the list is:
    Dazzle €70+ ebay

    pinnacle_dazzle_dvd_recorderz82standard.jpg

dazzle works in the same way as the easycap, but a lot of people hate them and the software leaves a lot to be desired. (I recommend the easycap for the same quality but a cheaper price)

And at the high end is:
Hauppauge HD PVR €200 (Official site - here in Ireland)

    haup_hd_pvr1.jpg
    5-30-08-hauppauge-hd-pvr.jpg

This is my baby, I love this thing.

It records through component so you can get HD (720p & 1080p) quality. the files are much larger in comparison to the cheaper capture cards, but the quality is amazing

Check out my youtube if you want to see the quality

    Lastly, you can go for:
BlackMagic Intensity Pro €200 Official site

    hero.jpg

This is the highest quality you can get as it inputs and outputs HDMI.
The only drawback with this is it has to be PC installed and unlike the others, can't be used on a laptop.
The quality is unquestionable though but again, what it has in quality it lacks in mobility

If anybody has any questions about buying, setting up or recording don't hesitate to drop me a PM :)

    Cheers

I have the Intensity Pro myself, upgraded from the HD PVR for slightly better quality. Great piece of kit, love it.

You just need to buy splitter cables to go from your PS3 to the easycap and to the tv at the same time (Can be bought anywhere) The easycap plugs in to your PC through USB and records while you play. Then you can straight upload, or commentate on them using a video editing programme like Windows Movie Maker or Sony vegas... :)
