Got one recently from ebay very nice piece of kit link here. It works a treat have it connected to my kitchen TV. PVR if you have a USB key connected, pause , rewind and I think it plays avi's and mp3's but I need to play with it further.

It is not fully compatible with Irish DTT, it does not do HD, so if RTE launch with HD, then it will not work.

If you remember, when the trials turned into tests, RTENL turned off MPEG2 on the day. My TV (as a iDTV) was made redundant on the 1st of August two years ago as a result. Be careful, the configuration for launch has not been announced and HD is in the spec.

Hi Sam no HD is not a big issue for me as its the TV in the kitchen. For the few quid it was very much worth the buy. One minor issue I noted was after scanning several feeds had no audio, I then realised that they had several audio feeds, once I picked the correct feed it worked very well.

HD would not be a big issue, unless RTE broadcasts, say, RTE1 and RTE2 only in HD. Then you will not have RTE. I have a Picnic box that will go the same way.

Can you see all the test channels at the moment?

    Good find Dunleas.

    How long did delivery take?

Keep us posted. Do you have a USB Hard Drive to test it with?

    Delivery-4 days to Cork

USB-tested and works fine with a key will test hard drive as well and let you know . The reaction times were quicker then my MVision Combo. Must test the AVI's and MP3's over the next few evenings. EPG spot on as well.

Do you know if it requires a fairly robust signal? Reason I'm asking is that Argos had one of these for UK freeview only at one time but it needed a pretty strong signal to work.

Will not encrypt the current HD test channel as expected boing a SD device.

Sensitive to the signal is gets. Currently I have it connect to a coaxial point in the kitchen (attic amplified aerial) no issues. If I connect an amplified aerial to it directly no signal. Now our area is a black hole when it comes to TV, wireless broadband and mobiles so that's not a huge surprise.

It will be interesting to see if I attempt the direct connect exercise in lets six Months when Mullaghanish is at full throttle.
