Active X error

I'm getting an error in Word 03 when I try to save a document. When I hit File---Save as, a dialogue box pops up with Active X cant creat object, error 429.

So far I've re-installed office, checked regedit for the right key (which was there). None of this has worked. Any ideas?

This is only happening in Word, I have excel, publisher and powerpoint and I can save no problem.

Are you getting this error for ALL documents? For example if you open up a Blank Document and type a few letters and then just save it, do you get the same error?

there is a safe mode for winword something like -a IIRC

also find and rename normal.dot - fixed odd little problems

again check with a blank document

also try save as - try rtf or word 95 or word 97 etc.

reinstall / remove all of word does NOT remove all the reg settings :mad::mad::mad:
can't remember off hand the name of the link to the tool that does remove all of office

Yep, I tried opening a blank doc, typed a couple of characters and hit save as, but got the same error.

@ the Capt'n: renaming normal.dot was next in my thinking. I'll let you know if that works.

Yeah I agree with Capt'n. That sorts out a lot of issues with Word.
