While I appreciate Fisk's point that you cannot explain the situation fully without a proper historical context I think it was silly of him to try to make the Armenian genocide the central point of his comments when asked about what impact the Flotilla attack had on Turkish/Israeli relations.

And excuse me for going slightly off topic but did Paul Reynolds suggest in the following piece that counterfeit notes could do far more damage to the economy than recent events if they got into circulation?

I saw Fisk the last time he was here in the NCH. Very entertaining and you knew which side of the knife he was sharpening - but that's fair enough. But yesterday was a tad silly - Fine history shapes the future - but they were trying to discuss something live!

    Fisk is an idiot.

A fairly talented writer who has gone so far over to one side, that he is no longer credible.

He is a total disgrace to the world of journalism, such is his anti Israeli/US bias.

    Unreadable.

If he didn't live in the region he writes about, how would he get insight ? His bias isn't just against Israel and America. In his books he writes about Arab leaders being horrid as much as anyone else.

If you missed R Fisk on the News @ 1 - well worth a listen

He got particularly belligerent and the interview came to an abrupt end!

Fair play to O'Rourke he didn't allow him to promote his anti Israeli rhetoric.

Arrogant and overbearing gentleman is Mr Fisk.

Someone should tell him where to go to be honest.

Tks for the link by the way

I can't help but notice that Fisk's critics (most of whom are unquestioning supporters of Israel) always accuse him of being a poor journalist (or worse - I remember Alan Dershowitz accusing him of anti-Semitism on The Last Word a few years back), but can never quite explain where his analysis is wrong.

Reportage and journalistic effort should retain a modicum of unbiased input.

Fisk is so far up his own rectum, that he expects everyone to accept his view ad nauseum.

Objective factual reportage is what I want, not some wannabe using his position to promulgate his views, whether held rightly or wrongly.

His performance with Seán O'Rourke was pathetic, and again, fair play to Seán for copping on to him.
