if you're up to it you can search for bilateral sagital split on youtube and watch some real surgeries but i don't recommend it

you should ask your surgeon those questions.

    Hi there

I wouldnt get too hung up on the technicalities of the surgery. Basically you will have the position of your jaws reset to fit the teeth together correctly and improve your facial profile. Talk with the surgeon and orthodontist if you are uncertain

Afterwards you will be sore and swollen and bruised. The main risk is damage to the nerve in your lower lip, the research varies but approximately 10% will have a numb or tingling lip after the lower jaw surgery. They will release you from hospital 3-4 days afterwards usually but his can be shorter depening on recovery. You will be on soft and liquid foods for 2-3 weeks and wont be up to do much in work or college for 3 weeks or so

Have plenty of DVD's and suitable food ready. You will need someone to look after you for the first while and in particular mind children. It will be hard going for the first few weeks, i think you wont be running for a couple of months and definitely no contact sports for 6 months at least
