    Hi
I'm not sure if this is the correct forum to post this on but and input would be great! :D
I'm doing my leaving cert and hope to do journalism in UL. I write a blog for a website but would love to get some proper experience at an actual radio station or newspaper.
I've already written to the local places but I haven't heard anything back! I was just wondering if anyone had any advice on how to get some experience?

    Thanks!

I would tend to get the names of section heads ie news editors, features editors, in different newspapers and their email addresses. I would send them an email, followed by a phone call. Try to work out when their busiest times are, so that you are not bothering them coming up to deadline. Also, it might be worth your while submitting articles to publications. Don't be afraid to run them past someone who works in the business first.
