Ok first lesson last tuesday, was shown the correct stance and grip and used these on Sunday morning for the first time to very poor effect.

Grip is very hard to master, Right hand thumb on right side of club - holding club only with fingers.

Any tips on how to master this - feels awkward & stiff.

Any aids out there that you can recommend?

Similar story here, I have the wrong, right over left, grip and want to change this year and try and enjoy the game a bit more.
The grip means I only have a 3/4 backswing (max).

Nothing really you can do only practice. Hit the driving range and smack as many balls as you can with your new grip. One tip is to make sure you never revert back to your old grip. Once you have 2-3 rounds played with your new grip you'll be used to it and you'll find you hit alot straighter, especially off the tee. Changed my grip last year after ~10 years of having too tight a grip and wrong right hand position, never been longer or straighter off the teee since the change. Once your used to it you'll wonder how you played the old way.

OP it may even take you few weeks to settle into new grip but it will be worth it if you stick with it. Sometimes you have take step back to take 2 steps forward and you will see the difference in your new grip once you practise with it.

Grip is most important part of game in many ways. I used to have poor grip when I started out got 2 lessons just on working on my grip alone and within a month I was hitting the ball about 15-20 yards longer and also hitting about 20-30% more fairways and greens.

You've got to keep practising and keep checking.

There are no easy shortcuts and it's always one small step at a time.

When I started out playing golf as a young lad one of the first lessons I got was to do with grip! For whatever reason I simply could not fathom how the grip he was trying to teach me would be effective, never mind being able to do it! So he brought out an aid. I'm fairly sure it was a 7 iron, which had a grip moulded to the shape your hands were supposed to be in!

Might be summit to have a look for! Couple a practice sessions with that and you'll find it impossible to grip the club any other way!

Could it not be possible that your own individual style or grip suits how you hit the ball perfectly. Apart from the left below right grip, practically anything is good once it feels comfortable for you IMO. Too many robot swings about imo.

Practice on the range and course with your new grip and practice reforming the grip when you are at home by using one of these practice clubs - with pre-formed moulded grip.
