I'm not sure where to be posting this,

I applied to social welfare as I am now unemployed after working 2 & a half years straight. The interviewing woman said that I'd be happy to know that I would not have to wait to be paid. I was put in for JSB.

It's coming up on week 9-10 now. I've been back to them & keep getting its still pending & they are back-logged.

I went to see the relieving officer like they told me to, after waiting around I was then told that they would not help me out because my boyfriend is working.

He works 37hrs a week, but on minimum wage, not enough to cover rent for us both let alone bills & food.

I'm runing out of money now & really afraid that I can't continue to pay my rent. I might go back to them & explain all this.

Is there anything they can do for me?
Thanks for reading, I know its a long post.

Did they say you didn't have enough credits to qualify for Jobseekers Benefit? If you had, because JB is not means tested, what your partner earned would be irrelevant.

Yeah I was told I had something like 52 credits. Which was way above what they needed.
    It's irrelevant in that case?

Sorry, I misread your original post and mistook 'relieving officer' as referring to social welfare staff but you mean the Community Welfare Officer and his/her reply re your request for Supplementary Welfare Allowance while you await your claim for JB coming through.

Your partner's earnings come into play for a Supplementary Welfare payment and if he's earning more than Euro 326.10 (assuming you are over 25) they wouldn't pay weekly sum most likely. As his wages a bit less than that, they may consider you if you bring in his wages slips
to prove your situation. They might consider a special needs payment to help with rent etc., till your JB goes through. It's worth a shot. Here's link to Supplementary Welfare info http://www.citizensinformation.ie/categories/social-welfare/social-welfare-payments/supplementary-welfare-schemes/supplementary_welfare_allow

AFAIK its about 327 per week.
I'm actually turning 21 in about 3 weeks.

I'm going to visit them anyway & see what they can do.
Really in a difficult spot at the moment.
