I'm just wondering if the height of the ball on the tee, which in my case the ball is teed down quite low, is the cause of the push/block drive???:rolleyes:

The drive does go a fair bit tbh but its to the right hand side of the fairway or to the rough stuff now and again.

Sorry if it sound bit silly!!!

It depends really, but it's unlikely. If your clubface has impacted the ball correctly, i.e. - square, within reason the tee height is not important. If you're blocking it, the ball could be too far back in your stance or you could be leaning into the shot before finishing your backswing. Does it only happen with your driver?

    SuprSi,

Yeah only with my driver. The ball isnt too far forward but just a few inches from the back of my front heel.

Leaning into the shot on the downswing. tbh i couldnt say i be doing dat or nobody has said that to me on the course.

I do get the ball quite airborne when i block it even if it tee down and when i do hit far and straight, the ball has a medium height flight. Strange

Generally people wouldn't comment on others' game on the course. Plus the fact that 95% (made up figure) of people wouldn't be able to spot you doing this. Sounds to me like this is your problem.

Good practice drill to try - Stick an umbrella in the ground at your left hip as you hit balls...forces you to turn through the shot rather than slide your hips. See if this helps.

Thanks, i will try this next time i'm out and hopefully with a bit of patience and hard work i can sort this out!!!

I tend to tee the ball up high. If I tee it low then I'll tend to fade the ball.

Are you SURE your clubface alignment is correct at address? With some drivers it can appear to be square, but can in fact be off a couple of degrees. Set up as normal then get someone to double check it. Picking a spot a foot or two in front of the ball can help too I find.

I had this with my driver and I noticed that it seem to be I was dropping my hands in the down swing but it could have been the cause of what is said above.

If I kept my height it would go straight.

assuming you are right when you say you are hitting a push, ie its going straight right and NOT curving, face will never come into it. push, pull and straight all have the same face impact "the face is square to the path". If you are producing a push, the path MUST be in to out!! If you want to find out if im right simply put a head cover just after the ball on the right (from the point of view of behing the ball looking down the target). If this is the case you must start working on squaring the path (visit your local pro don't try to do this yourself). HOWEVER....if the ball is curving, this will not work. If the ball is curving then you must start to look at the face as su campo says!!

1.Make sure you are aligned correctly and not actually aiming out to the right. Place a club along the top of your shoes and step back off the shot. The club should be parallel with your ball-to-target line

2.Make sure your shoulders aren't too flat at address. Left shoulder needs to be higher than right (for right handed golfer). Too flat will lead to blocks.

    3. Make sure your grip isn't too weak. Weak grip will also lead to both blocks and slices.

If those 3 things are all OK and you're still blocking the ball then go to a pro. He'll spot whats wrong. If you are making good contact with the ball then it's probably only a minor adjustment that needs to be made.
Something is just not quite right with your set up.
