    It's a great idea but I can't see it happening in Ireland for a long time. Plastic wallet-sized licenses are on the way, there's currently a tender up on e-tenders.ie to make them.

    God that would be a relief for anyone getting their license.
    I enjoyed the same 'one stop shop' concept in New Zealand, done in the AA offices.

    Just like the current licence/permit. Will it still be a separate card if you have both a full licence and a learner permit in different categories? Because that's the only thing I can think of that'd be handy, just having the one.
